Introducing the University of Kansas Jayhawks Pillow Pet! Without a doubt this is one of my favorite of the new Collegiate Pillow Pets out on the market today. I am always reminded of John Cleese in Monty Python saying “Beautiful Plumage!” over and over again when looking at this Jayhawk! He is so colorful and vibrant that you cannot help but want to buy one. I have never been to the University of Kansas nor do I have any connection to that University however I did buy a Jayhawk Pillow Pet when they first came out! And since then all I can tell you is that I have been thrilled with the purchase! In fact my three year old loves this Pillow Pet more that any of the other ones she has (And we have them all!) simply do to the beautiful colors!
Of course anyone who is a big basketball fan knows that the University of Kansas is a powerhouse in the basketball world and that they have had much success over the past years in Collegiate Basketball. This has without a doubt increased the popularity of the school and of course the Big Jay or Little Jay mascot. In fact, the University of Kansas Mascot has become one of the more famous collegiate mascots in the country today and continues to be a wonderful representative of this prestigious University.
But what is a University of Kansas Jayhawk anyway?
I get that question quite a bit from clients who purchase the Kansas Jayhawk and I must admit that I had to do some research before I was able to come up with an answer. Actually, the Jayhawk is a mythical bird that is supposed to be a hybrid of a Blue Jay and a Sparrow Hawk. Accounts of settlers coming across Jayhawks from the Great State of Texas all the way up to northern Illinois popped up all over the USA during the mid to late 1800’s. The name became very popular and it stuck, so much so that Civil War Regiments from the Kansas area territories nicknamed themselves the Jayhawks. Giving homage to this mythical legendary bird.
The Kansas Jayhawk. An easy choice for a Pillow Pet
So, it is very easy to see why the University of Kansas chose the Jayhawk for a Mascot and even easier to see why we love the Kansas Jayhawk as a Pillow Pet. With the “Beautiful Plumage!” (Sorry Mr. Cleese) and the stunning uniform, even people like me with no connection to this Alma Mater will want to buy one! With football season here, the Universities back in session and the holidays upon us this Little Jay is going to go fast! We recommend you snatching one up while you can. Supplies are adequate but will probably be getting tight in the coming future.
